Hello! My name is Grace Kinney. I am currently a senior studying Visual Media Arts and Marketing Communications at Emerson College. At school I have been involved in orgs like the radio station WERS 88.9fm, doing graphic design and concert photography for their social media pages and website. Two summers ago I also had the opportunity to be a summer intern for the Cape Cod Baseball League as a graphic design and photography intern, and this school year I'm an academic sports intern for NBC Sports Boston! I have had a passion for the arts for my entire life, but have been experimenting with digital mediums since high school. I enjoy and have experience using adobe creative programs. I post my work on my newly made media instagram @gkinneymedia!

2025-2026: Academic Year Sports Intern with NBC Sports Boston

From September 2025 to April 2026, I am a Sports Intern for NBC Sports Boston! So far, this has been an incredible experience. I get to work under two different teams, content creation and production. I've learned how to use programs like Dalet Galaxy, and follow the fast-paced environment of sports sound logging and producing.

I also have been able to increase my experience in Adobe products such as Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and After Effects. I also have had multiple opportunities so far to shoot events such as hosting the owner of the Celtics for a podcast shoot, as well as getting to attend Celtics Media Day!

This part of my page will be continuously updated throughout the school year, as I have already gained so much experience in my first month here!

My 2024 Summer Internship With the Cape Cod Baseball League.

Last summer I had the opportunity to be a part of the public relations team for the Cape Cod Baseball League. I did a lot of graphic design work, especially for their digital marketing and partnerships, as well as game photography 5-6 days a week. In this internship, I learned a lot about editing, working with other interns, and applying my skills and creativity to match with the leagues overall aesthetic and communicate frequently with everyone I was working with. Right when I started this internship, I created a media account on instagram to start sharing my work on social media. Throughout the summer, I would averagely attract almost 10,000 accounts a week to my page. My work was also featured on the Cape Cod Baseball League’s social media accounts and website, combined with over 64,000 followers.

Graphic Design

I began my work in graphic design after a sparked interest in digital art. I took a UConn summer class my junior year of high school to learn beginner skills on how to navigate adobe products, specialized in graphic design and animation. After the course, I began to continue to use adobe products for fun, teaching myself for the next few years. Now I am a junior in college, and am still learning things every single day, but find myself using graphic design in my classes, my internships, and for experimenting with personal work. Throughout this section, you can see my graphics from marketing classes, from my internships, personal work, and commissions.

Brands, Organizations, and Strategies: My work from the semester

This semester, I took a class that taught us all about the importance of personal branding. We had a semester long project to create a mock brand extension for an already existing brand, and my partners and I chose duolingo.

The brand extension we chose - a dating app called DuoDates. We applied duolingo's core values to an extended fake brand and created something new that still follow the brand guidelines. I created the new logos, as well as the graphics (all in photoshop) to animate this video. I did all video editing and animating in premiere pro. Below is the final video that is being submitted to the Hatch Awards this fall!

Digital Photography

I've been experimenting with digital photography since I was a kid. As I've gotten older, I feel like I've found my style - I enjoy brighter colors and higher saturation levels, however I am able to adapt to whatever style people request. I edit my photos on Adobe Lightroom, which I've been familiar with for over three years now. I have a lot of experience shooting portrait and landscape, but recently have gotten into sports photography. I am an adaptive photographer who is always eager to learn.

Digital Art and Mixed Media

I am a huge fan of mixed media. It is something that I've started to experiment with since my sophomore year of high school. I think its so interesting to combine multiple mediums to create a piece of artwork. Recent mixed media that I am very proud about is my collaborations with my brother Jack Kinney, who does digital media for Fairfield Athletics. Last basketball season, he sent me two different videos that he had edited and put music for, and I printed out every frame and re-animated it with layering, drawings, and cutting up photos. I then re-scanned the frames back into the computer and put it all back together in the video. This process takes hours-days depending on the length, but is worth every second. I use premiere pro to do video editing.

Intro to Interactive Media: Semester Highlights

This semester, I took a class that taught me how to use and understand interactive media, such as augmented reality, virtual reality, and even some coding for UX and UI.

My AR project (which you can scan the code) is being put into Emerson's interactive media archive, but you can also check out my VR final (that is still interactive without a headset). I encourage you to check them out!

Film Photography

I've always been a huge fan of disposable cameras and film, however my sophomore year of college I extended my skills into manual film photography, specifically in black and white shooting. Not only did I deepen my understanding on how cameras work, I also learned how to traditionally develop, scan, and manually print my film as well as how to do it on the computer. I have taken this skill further, reintroducing it into my internship and shot a roll throughout the summer, but I also enjoyed experimenting with different lights, locations, and ideas. You'll also see photos that I took for a surprise wedding. I am fortunate enough to be able to shoot on my Grandfather's  1969 Minolta manual camera that he used.
